FREEDOM HILL SANCTUARY IS A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION DEDICATED TO RE-HOMING AND PROVIDING A LOVING HOME TO NEGLECTED AND exploited FARM ANIMALS.
We are located in South Australia, in the Adelaide Hills, with 48 acres of picturesque hills country. Freedom Hill opened 2011 and is the first sanctuary for farmed animals in South Australia.
Our mission at Freedom Hill Sanctuary is to re-home or provide a safe haven for animals that have been rescued from abuse, exploitation or neglect. We also aim to change the way people view farm animals and promote, educate and encourage compassionate cruelty-free living.
Life begins at Freedom Hill for all our rescues and each and every one will always have a safe, happy and forever home. We are not open to the public yet but our future plan is to open the sanctuary for weekend visits and later school visits.
Freedom Hill Sanctuary - Tuesday, February 24, 2015
On February 11th just over 100 ex-battery hens were saved from slaughter and are now safe at Freedom Hill Sanctuary. These ladies are 18 months old and are considered 'spent' by the egg industry.
Right now in Australia, 11 million battery hens are confined to small cages in which they are unable to perform their most natural behaviours.... They can't dust bath, forage or make a nest. They are also kept in artificial light to maximise their laying activity.
Every single one of them is an individual and they have their own unique personalities. If you would like provide a loving forever home to a few lucky hens please fill out our application form.
